2017 Donor Recognition Evening

On Thursday, March 9, 2017, the UBC Faculty of Forestry was delighted to host a ‘Donor Recognition Evening’ to honour and thank our generous donors and celebrate the 2016 student award recipients.  Guests mingled in the Atrium of the Forest Sciences Centre for a cocktail reception, with speeches from Dean John Innes; and two award recipients representing the graduate and undergraduate students. The event allows the Faculty’s donors, many of whom are alumni themselves, to connect with the students they are supporting and to hear first-hand how the support has helped make a difference in the students’ lives as they strive to reach their educational, personal and career goals.

“I am a dreamer. I am a believer. And my time here in forestry so far, has been preparing me with the tools and the critical thinking needed to help make a change.” -Yadira Rosa Corbet, BSCN, 3rd year

“Personally, the award has given me confidence in my research and freedom to explore both academic and volunteer pursuits related to our field.” – Sara Barron, PhD Candidate

Congratulations to the student recipients who were chosen for their academic achievements and non-academic qualities (such as leadership skills and community involvement or volunteering work). And of course a huge thank you to the Faculty’s donors who make it all possible.
